Caught on Camera!

A Bank House Project
In December  2009 South Derbyshire based professional film makers, Deb Haywood and John Abbot, interviewed on camera members of the South Derbyshire Mental Health Association talking about their experiences (good and bad) of the Health and Social Services. The project was commissioned by Derbyshire LINk (a government funded watchdog for the Services) to provide creative footage and capture valuable insights of services that can be incorporated into their web-site.

To help participants relax on camera the project also included mural painting sessions with Seema Gill and Richard Heley (the art work is now on display in the kiln at Sharpe’s Pottery) and banner making with textile and craft worker Philippa Day. High Peak Community Arts developed the project; People Express is a partner along with Junction Arts. It is the first time we have worked with High Peak and Junction on a Derbyshire-wide project.

The mural created is exhibited in the kiln at Sharpe’s Pottery.

Hatton Storytelling Project

People Express have been running a storytelling project in Hatton with experienced storyteller, Richard Healey, and animator, Rob Webster. The story is developed and written by the young people from the ‘Youth of Hatton‘ group, who meet regularly, and is called ‘Keep Your Hat On!’ Now the story is completed the group is very  busy creating characters and props to bring their story alive through animation. The project has been made possible through the generous support of volunteers and funded by the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation. The ‘Keep Your Hat On!’ film will be shown at a community event in June.
