People Express aims to offer participatory artistic experiences to excluded and disadvantaged groups that enable people to be seen and heard.
What We Offer
* Experienced Artists/Project Coordinators.
* A variety of art forms to participate in.
* Hire of workshop space and multi media computer suite.
* Hire of equipment.
* Hire of space for meetings, committees, etc.
* Support to artists/community groups and organisations.
How We Work
People Express develops work on the principle of ’self-help’, filtering through the skills that groups need to become self sustaining. Participants share in the decision making processes through the Steering groups encouraging a sense of ownership and pride in the project and it’s achievements.
Programme of Work
People Express works in four main ways; Innovation, Responsive, Regional and National/International.
INNOVATION:
New priorities for the next three years are:
* Diversity.
* Intergenerational.
* New Media/Film.
RESPONSIVE:
Which supports groups that approuch with their own plans and the new community groups that emerge and become sustainable as a result of our innovative programme.
The priorities within this programme are:
* Rural Young People.
People Express employ experienced freelance artists as Project managers for the responsive programme enabling us to offer:
* Information and guidance on project development & funding.
* Specialist art form advice and guidance.
* Support finding, hiring and employing freelance artists.
* Support identifying project aims and objectives.
* Guidance with evaluation and reports.
* free access to arts/ICT equipment for events/workshops.
* Support setting up and running steering groups and committees.
* Signposting to other organisations (arts and non arts related)
* Access to wider arts networks (such as EMPAF, DADG – Derbyshire Arts Development Group, ATC – Arts Training Central)
REGIONAL:
People Express is supporting the development of community and arts practice through regional networks:
* EMPAF ( East Midlands Participatory Forum)
* DADG (Derbyshire Arts Development Group)
* Arts Council/East Midlands
NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL:
People Express is engaged in cultural, learning and skills exchanges with peer groups in Rotterdam, Bangladesh, and Japan.

* To develop greater representation and participation of diverse communities in our work.
* To develop greater provision in areas of the District with little or no access to the arts.
