On the 15th July a presentation event took place at Newhall Community Junior School during assembly for the winner and some of the runners up of the ‘Recycled Bin Schools Competition’ Here’s the winner, Callum Bucknell, standing next to the RECYCLE WORM sculpture (made by artist Rob Webster) which he designed. Also with the runners up from Newhall Community Junior School. Well done to everyone!
A BIG congratulations to Callum Bucknell from Newhall Community Junior School with the winning entry called ‘RECYCLE WORM’. Here is his design with the completed life sized sculpture made by an environmental community artist, which was displayed at the Festival of Leisure on the 27th and 28th June.
This was a competition run by Swadfest with local schools to encourage the children to recycle/use litter bins and think about their environment. Children from each school were asked to design an environmentally themed litter bin, (or ‘a bin that you would WANT to put litter in’!). The children were encouraged to design the bin around questions such as ‘What does it look like?’ , ‘Does it have a name?’, ‘Is it magical?’, ‘What colour is it?’ ‘How big is it’?’ ‘What is it made of?’, ‘Does it move? etc.’
